Managua Christian Academy

In January 2003, Compassion in Action saw the need for a school at the Equip training center in Managua, Nicaragua. In February 2006 this dream became a reality. This school reaches out to the children in the community around the NCCATR training center. The Nicaraguan school year runs from February - November. The school provides a Christian education for children K-8. The vision for MCA includes adding an additional grade each year until all grades in primary and secondary school are covered. Schools in Nicaragua run either in the morning or afternoon. Classes at MCA start at 7 a.m. and end at Noon, after which the children will be served a nutritious meal.
Afternoon electives will be offered in areas such as: Music, Drama, Home Economics, Computers, ESL (English as a Second Language), and Adult Education (reading). Some of our children will be studying at grade levels that do not match their age. In such cases, afternoons will be set aside for these children to take extra classes in needed areas in an effort to catch them up to their appropriate grade level.
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The school is financed through sponsorships. Each child must have a sponsor before he/she can attend MCA classes. For $30 a month, each child will receive his/her uniform (required by the Nicaraguan government), all their school supplies, books and a daily lunch. 100% of every $30 sponsorship goes towards the Christian education of the child you sponsor. Compassion in Action appropriates all sponsorship funds for the children and keeps nothing for administrative costs. Typically, we take in more applications than we have sponsors for these children who so desperately what to attend. Applications for children wanting to attend and sponsorship sign ups can be viewed here.
The Lord has been doing a great work through the MCA and we ask that you prayerfully consider joining in.
